Limited Memory: Memory-efficient data structures were used on the handheld device and translated into standard vocabularies on the docking station.
Slow Connection Speed: Serial cable connection necessitated encoded documentation that optimized the data transfer rate.
Small Screen Size: Sections of the encounter (interval history, physical exam, assessment and plan) were subdivided on multiple tabbed screens to accommodate the small screen size of the device.
